The Commando was one of the most successful motorcycles ever produced in Britain. Best known are the Roadster, built from 1971 until importation ceased into North American 1975. But between the first Fastback Commando of 1968 and the final electric-start bikes, the factory built a number of short-run variants, such as the “S” type, now highly collectible.
The replica “S” was put together from a matching numbers 1971 Roadster that was originally made in 12/71 so it still had the double leading front brake . This bike has the improved side stand mount and a steel petrol tank. The yellow paint is a very good match for the original ( looks some what faded due to sun glare). The exhaust system fits well and of excellent quality. New wiring harness (cloth bound), Both instruments have been recondition . There is extensive records on this bike. Originally purchased in the UK and the immigrated to Barbados then finally to Canada.. Mechanical work also accounted for. Bike started easily from cold and idled smoothly. The exhaust sound is just “music” to motorbike guys. Steel tank is clean and has not been sealed and is free of any imperfections.
This bike is stunning and a real show stopper. You have to get through the crowd that gathers wherever it is parked. Clear BC title of ownership in the sellers name. Located in Qualicum Beach BC (very near to Robin’s)
