The R90S featured two-tone paintwork, a bikini headlight fairing, and a seat with ducktail bodywork which doubled as a storage space for small items. This example has been refinished in Smoke Black with pearl white accents. The air-cooled 898cc Type 247 boxer twin was factory-rated at 67 horsepower with 56 lb-ft of torque when new. A five-speed transmission transfers power to the rear wheel via shaft drive. The S model had a bigger, 6.4-gallon gas tank, twin 200mm front discs instead of just one, plus, of course, that handlebar-mounted fairing with its useful pair of white-faced gauges above the normal speedo and tach. The fairing, tank, front mudguard, side panels and the rear of the slightly stepped dual seat were all visually brought together by that classy paint scheme of subtly changing tones.
